The Getting Started Experience in OpenShift.io

The Getting Started Experience in OpenShift.io

What I did

  • Created on boarding process flows

  • Created low-fidelity wireframes to validate design concepts

  • Collaborated with visual designers, project managers, and developers to build out the design

Background

OpenShift.io was a cloud-native set of zero-install tools for editing and debugging code, agile planning, and managing CI/CD pipelines. Openshift.io was not realized into a full-fledged product, but parts are in use in other Red Hat products today. Source

Design goal

The main design goal of this project was to make the installation process from the UI as straightforward and seamless as possible. The other way to install OpenShift.io was through the command line. We wanted to create an installation experience geared towards users who were less familiar with using the command line.

Design process

OpenShift.io was an early stage product. The design work for it involved creating user flows and wireframes from scratch. The design process included creating user flows and low-fidelity wireframing to define what the ideal OpenShift.io on boarding experience should be.
